Diaconal Ministries Resource Manual 35 Spirituality Programs Liber Christo Ministry L iber Christo is a ministry that assists those who approach the Catholic Church seeking relief f rom suspected extraordinary diabolical affliction (infestation, oppression, obsession or full possession). It follows traditional Catholic liberation practices of prayer, discipline, sacra- ments and if necessary, exorcism. The goal is reconciliation with God the Father, liberation, and ultimately salvation. The deacons are involved in intake, annul- ments, catechesis, mentoring, teaching and facilitating classes, RCIA, and participating in prayer sessions. For more information see liberchristo.org online. Men's Spirituality Ministry D eacons at different parishes lead Men's Spirituality Groups. They have used programs such as "That Man Is You!," "Catholi- cism," "Be a Man," "The Second Greatest Story Ever Told," "Exodus 90," and "Roman's VI" for sexual purity amongst others. The deacons organize the volunteers to run the program which normally includes an opening prayer, possibly a video on a topic relating to men's faith, and large and small group discussions (men at tables of 8-10). The discussions and videos relate to the pressures and tempta- tions in today's society. The meetings also may include a light meal. The deacon will lead the group in prayer as well as lead the large group and small group discussions. He organizes the volunteers to provide setup, clean up, coffee and perhaps food. i Deacon Jim Moat jimmoat@mac.com Deacon George Thierjung dulosgeorge@comcast.net i Deacon Steve Stemper deaconsteve@catholicfoundation.com Deacon Chet Ubowski dcnchet@sfcparish.org " " Do not cast me away from your presence, oh Lord, nor deprive me of your Holy Spirit.
