FOUNDATION FOR MISSION | 5 2 Funds Totaling $1.4 Million Eighteen more priests are set to retire in the next five years, with 49 retired as of July 2025. Retired Priests & Prophet Elijah House After a lifetime of faithful service, our retired priests deserve care, dignity, and peace of mind. Thanks to the generosity of the faithful, the Archdiocese supports them through the Priest Pension Fund and the Priest Special Needs and Long-term Care Fund, which are newly established endowment resources that provide for their housing, medical needs, and personal care as they age. While we are grateful to our donors for their generosity to the annual Retired and Infirm Priests Appeal – which is not an endowment – our desire is to provide greater stability in the generations to come through these new funds. A centerpiece of this care is Prophet Elijah House, a dedicated residence that offers a beautiful, prayerful environment and community living for retired priests. Ongoing support helps make this residence more affordable, allowing us to honor our priests with the comfort and community they deserve in retirement, at a lower cost than they would have to pay elsewhere. Also, announced in 2025, Mullen Residences at the Highlands is expected to provide an additional Catholic retirement experience for clergy and laity as early as 2029.
