The Pastoral Handbook
Consultative Organization
T
he Deacon Council is made up of Re-
gional and Associate Directors who
meet quarterly to discuss the ministries and
the lives of deacons in their regions. They
provide education opportunities, information
exchange, fraternal activities, and counsel.
They represent the deacons in their region,
providing status updates to the Director on
the welfare and needs of their brother dea-
cons as well as their families.
T
he Personnel Board meets monthly to
oversee personnel issues and to advise
the Director on assignments and recommen-
dations for personnel action for the Arch-
bishop to consider. They also look at any
challenging situations and oversee the St.
Lawrence Assistance Funding for Deacons.
More information can be found in the Poli-
cy Handbook Chapter 2, Part 5.
St. Lawrence Assistance Fund
T
he fund was started several years ago in

• assistance for a deacon with an emergency
financial need
So far, the Fund has supported two new
ministries, assisted a deacon in an education-
