Archdiocese of Denver 18 Mission Shelter Ministry T he Mission Shelter, a facility of Catholic Charities Northern in Fort Collins provides nightly shelter to homeless single individuals and families with children, along with laundry and shower facilities. They serve breakfast and dinner for the residents of the shelter. The Mission has day shelter services during inclement weather. They provide meals for those in need through the hospitality kitchen. Other services include: emergency assistance for utilities, bus passes, along with a Senior Program, and a Veterans' Program. Deacons lead liturgy and prayer services during the week for residents and staff mem- bers. They interact with the residents during their visits. The deacons also assist with meal preparation including family night once a month where the residents are served on chi- na and have the evening off f rom all kitchen duties. Guadalupe Community Center T he Guadalupe Community Center is a homeless shelter in Greeley which offers programs and services that operate on a "support to succeed" approach where homelessness does not equate hopeless- ness. The Center gives these residents a safe and supportive place to live for a few months while they secure income and save the money to transition to affordable housing. Many people who have lost their jobs and their homes also become lost in their faith. The deacon's presence and support provides a means for them to rediscover their faith life. A chapel is located within the Center and pro- vides a space for clergy to meet residents for consultations and prayer. Ministry to the residents of the Guadalupe Community Center in Greeley consists of deacons assisting with the spiritual needs of the residents by providing spiritual counseling, providing a Catholic presence, and a Commu- nion service every other week. A Mass is also celebrated once a month for residents and staff. i Deacon Cecil Gingerich deaconcecil@yahoo.com i Deacon Dennis Wallisch denwallisch@comcast.net Deacon Greg Reynolds gcreynolds@stjosephfc.org " " For I was hungry, and you gave me food, I was thirsty, and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me.
